As the Director of Digital Pedagogy and Scholarship at Catawba College, I specialize in merging traditional educational approaches with cutting-edge digital technologies, pedagogical methods, and scholarly endeavors. My role encompasses spearheading initiatives to seamlessly integrate digital tools, resources, and methodologies across our academic landscape, supporting both faculty and students in their scholarly pursuits.
A significant aspect of my work involves securing grants to advance our educational technology infrastructure. Notably, these efforts have resulted in the implementation of virtual reality headsets, pop-up makerspace initiatives, and the establishment of instructional studio space within the Greg and Missie Alcorn Digital Learning Lab at the Corriher-Linn-Black Library.
My teaching portfolio encompasses a diverse range of courses tailored to meet the evolving needs of our institution. Noteworthy offerings include a First-year seminar titled "Take Control of Your Digital Life" and courses in Education such as "Introduction to Teaching" and "Innovative Technology Use in Education."
As a licensed educator in Secondary English and School Media in North Carolina, along with holding a North Carolina Public Library Certification, my commitment to excellence has been recognized through accolades such as the SNCAE (Student North Carolina Association of Educators) Outstanding Chapter Advisor Award from NCAE (North Carolina Association of Educators) in 2015.
